Iltja Ntjarra Many Hands Art Centre is the official artist cooperative, home of the Namatjira watercolour artists, proudly Aboriginal owned and directed. The Art Centre was established by Ngurratjuta/Pmara Ntjarra Aboriginal Corporation in Alice Springs and started operating in 2004, as a not-for-profit Art Centre to provide a place for Arrernte Artists to come together to paint, share and learn new techniques and ideas. Iltja Ntjarra incorporated in 2016 such that the artists are now directors of their own art centre.

Iltja Ntjarra Art Centre represents the artists continuing in the ‘Hermannsburg School’ of watercolour painting made famous by Albert Namatjira. Artists, including the direct descendants of Namatjira, continue his legacy while creating new ways of seeing country and sustaining an important piece of living history.

The Art Centre is strongly committed to improving economic participation of Aboriginal people and maintaining cultural heritage.
