Established in the early 1970s, MAC is an Aboriginal art centre based in Maningrida, Western Arnhem Land, operated through the homelands resource organisation, Bawinanga Aboriginal Corporation.

It empowers local artists to pursue successful global careers from their homeland and township bases.

Artists have control over all stages of the production of their work and use materials derived from and sustainably harvested on their clan estates: ochres and pigments that are powerful ancestral substances in themselves, the bark, wood and roots of trees, palm leaves and vines, feathers, and wax from bush honey.

One of the longest running art centres, Maningrida Arts & Culture has supported hundreds of artists on their homelands, more than 20 artworkers, held 20 exhibitions annually, won prestigious awards, and enjoyed the international fame.
