Australia is often referred to as ‘the big country’ but nowhere is the scale of this great southern land more apparent then in the desert regions of the country. And suitably the art made in these regions is ‘big’ in both size and meaning.

Big Country features monumental Aboriginal paintings celebrating the ancestral creation stories that cover the vast desert regions of northwest South Australia, Western Australia and the Nothern Territory. The works of art selected include new acquisitions, rarelly seen works and paintings recently returned from the highly successful national tour of Desert Country.
