With its 4th edition of the guide, Australian magazine Art Collector confirms its “strong ethical position in regards to the Indigenous art market and collecting”. Addressing “serious collectors of Aboriginal art” and “those who are new to the ethical collecting of Indigenous art”, the 160-page publication offers:

– A comprehensive directory of 61 Indigenous artist-owned, community-based art centres across Australia, including some geographical and historical information on the communities they serve, and artist profiles;
– Guidelines on ethically sourcing Indigenous art and how to be certain of provenance;
– An essay by Quentin Sprague on ‘Why bark painting is contemporary art’;
– A look into one of the oldest art centre Ernabella Arts.
