Power + Colour: New Painting from the Corrigan Collection of 21st Century Aboriginal Art catalogues Patrick Corrigan’s connoisseurship and characterises his life as an avid Aboriginal art collector. While it showcases the dominant focus of Corrigan’s acquisitions since 2008 – arguably also the current focus of a majority of contemporary academics, curators and collectors of Indigenous art alike – it is not intended to be a survey publication, for Corrigan only buys what he loves. Power + Colourshowcases many artists of renown alongside emerging artists, such as Akay Koo’oila from Cape York Peninsula, who, at 87 years of age, picked up a brush for the first time to record reflections of her country. This publication is mandatory for anybody even remotely interested in Indigenous art.
