Culture &amp; Arts, John Day, Jeanette Swan, David Weetra, Beryline Mung, Jennifer Dickens, Betty Bundamara, Terry Murray &amp; Graham Lands, AGWA Director Stefano Carboni, Joanne Farrell (Rio Tinto)<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After two years of consultation, the Art Gallery of Western Australia with support from the Rio Tinto Community Investment Fund have announced the launch of a six year, $1.8million art initiative, <em>Desert River Sea: Kimberley Art Then &amp; Now. <\/em>This new project aims to connect Indigenous artists and communities across the vast Kimberley region of Western Australia, provides opportunities for artists to share their work and supports emerging artists.<\/p>\n<p>Minister for Culture and the Arts, John Day also expressed the Government\u2019s strong support to this project. \u201cWe are delighted to see the results of a deeply collaborative partnership and feel that this arts initiative will see WA leading the way in developing Indigenous arts practice across Australia.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DESERT RIVER SEA: KIMBERLEY ART THEN &amp; NOW\u00a0 \u00a0Standing L to R: Chad Creighton, Glenn Iseger-Pilkington, Min.
