SYNOPSIS<\/span>:<\/p>\n

From the remote Australian desert to the opulence of Buckingham Palace \u2013 this is the iconic story of the Namatjira family, tracing their quest to regain the copyright to their grandfather\u2019s artwork.
\nAlbert Namatjira was the first Indigenous person to be made a citizen by the Australian Government.
\nThe founder of the Indigenous art movement in Australia, he was exhibited globally, and introduced to Queen Elizabeth.
\nHowever, Namatjira was caught between cultures \u2013 paraded as a great Australian, and at the same time treated with contempt.
\nHe was wrongfully imprisoned and in 1959 he died a broken man.
\nIn 1983 the Government sold his copyright to an art dealer.
\nToday his family fight for survival, justice and to regain their grandfather\u2019s copyright.
\nThis is one of Australia\u2019s most potent stories \u2013 illuminating the\u00a0relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians today.<\/strong><\/p>\n
