Yankunytjatjara artist Kaylene Whiskey introduces a powerful retrospective on her one-of-a-kind oeuvre and legacy in Super Kaylene Whiskey. With over 80 paintings taken from public and private collections, as well as one specially commissioned portrait, the National Portrait Gallery captures the pop, community-like, and feminist galaxy of Whiskey.

Using Kungka Kuṉpu (strong women) as her primary lens, she brilliantly joins Aṉangu kinship to pop culture, with mainstream figures such as Wonder Woman, Tina Turner or Dolly Parton portrayed hunting in the bush. Undeniably talented, she has notable received the Art Gallery of New South Wales’ Sulman Prize in 2018 for her work Kaylene TV.
