Join us for the launch of the IDAIA x Bábbarra Women’s Centre Collaboration: a collection of limited edition decorative objects and textile accessories created out of the beautiful fabrics by the women artists from the Aboriginal community of Maningrida, in Arnhem Land, far north of Australia.

The launch of the collection takes place in Paris to coincide with the artists’ exhibition ‘Jarracharra: Dry Season Winds/ Les vents de la saison sèche’ at the Australian Embassy of France and with the arrival of some of the artists in Paris for the occasion. We will have the joy and honour to present the Bábbarra collection with these artists on Friday 4th October, from noon to 2pm.

Bábbarra Women’s Centre is a women-led social enterprise that enables Indigenous women in the region to develop healthy and sustainable livelihoods, including through their fabric production workshop where they design and print fabrics by hand. Each design is inspired by the life of their native/traditional lands, the fauna and flora found there, as well as ancestral stories, or djang/wangarr. Bábbarra’s fabrics are known for their striking designs and shimmering colours.

All of the pieces in the collection were designed and manufactured by a team of Parisian designers and craftsmen, using complementary materials made in France and often from recycled materials, to create beautiful objects that highlight the fabrics and are also ethical and eco-responsible. The collection will also be accompanied by a selection of artworks by the artists.

You will be presented in the beautiful bright space of the gallery/showroom Bliss Studio Paris in the heart of the Marais:
• Art Cushions / Lighting / Bags and Pouches
• Unique pieces such as a beautiful upholstered vintage screen
• Prints / Mimih spirits sculptures / Coffin trunk sculptures
• A selection of fabrics.
